8 months old!

The months seem to be going by so fast!! Here we go again..... Jakey is 8 months old!

Here are the basic facts: He weighs 20 pounds and is 28 inches long. He sleeps from 7:00pm-7:00am and gets up once for a bottle every night. He naps at 9am, 1pm, and sometimes 4:30pm. He eats solids at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. His favorite food is peas and any kind of finger foods. He drinks 6 oz every 3-4 hours. He has two bottom teeth.

Now on to the fun stuff! Jakey is really starting to get the hang of rolling all of the place and scooching along on his tummy and bum. He can go from sitting to his tummy, and then can move in circles once he gets there. I'm pretty sure it won't be too long before he's crawling.

He is still a good natured baby and is so easy going. He loves to smile at people and usually spends all of church staring at the people behind us waiting for them to look so he can smile at them. He adores his big brother and loves having baths with him. They just sit and splash at each other. I hope they will be good friends when they get older!

Pre-Christmas Extravaganza!

Here it is! The inevitable Christmas post Part I. This year I wanted to start a few traditions with our little family as Wyatt is old enough to participate and enjoy them. At our ward Super Saturday the RS President gave a wonderful presentation on how to keep Christ in Christmas and I loved the ideas she gave us. One of the new traditions we started this year was to read one scripture a night and then hang an ornament on a little tree. It is simple but perfect for us.

We've had a fun month doing all sorts of activities. From Zoo Lights, to the Nativity, to making Ornaments, and finally to visiting Santa and going on a sleigh ride. But of course I always forget my camera in the car so I've gotten very few pictures!

Meeting Santa!

Waiting in line for the sleigh ride

Making ornaments

and gingerbread houses!

Only 4 more sleeps till Christmas!

7 months old!

It's that time of the month again....well not THAT time of the month. But the time that I get to gush over my sweet, adorable, and happy 7 month old!

This last month has been pretty rough on my little guy. Not only did he have his 6 month immunizations but he also had another tooth come in, was weaned off of his soother, and him and Wyatt both contracted croup. I woke up one morning to two dogs barking down my hallway to later realize it was my sick little boys. Unfortunately there is not much you can do about it medication wise (which we learned at 2:00am at the Children's Hospital.) So we just had to wait it out and alternate between steamy showers, cold air, and Tylenol.

Jakey has become a great sleeper. We weaned him off of his soother about 3 weeks ago and since then he has either slept through the night or woken up once for a bottle. The first few naps/bed times after going cold turkey were a little rough but within a few days he didn't need it anymore and mommy and daddy are finally getting some sleep! Now if only Wyatt would sleep through the night too!!

PS These pictures are getting harder and harder to take! I hope somebody enjoys them!

My Favorite "Things!"

It's the Cat in the Hat!
All of our adventures start like that!
Wherever your going, wherever your at
The Cat in the Hat Knows a lot about that!
If you have a child living in your home you've probably heard the theme song to the new Cat in the Hat cartoon on PBS. Well Wyatt loves loves loves it! So this year I decided it would be a perfect costume for the boys and it turned out so cute!
The perfect Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 & Thing 2!

These costumes were not the easiest to make!
  • First of all we couldn't find solid red pjs' in stores anywhere! Luckily Wendell found these pink Elmo ones with the zipper on the side which were PERFECT!

Then I designed the logo on the computer. Flipped the image then printed it on transfer paper. I then ironed it onto self adhesive felt and cut it out!

Then I had to dye the pjs with Rit Dye!

Finally once I put the felt on I realized it wasn't durable enough to keep the logo on for an extended period of time so I hand stitched around the edge!
  • Now the wigs were just as tricky. They were "Mad Scientist" Wigs from Walmart. I started dying them by using blue Halloween hairspray but I went through like 3 cans and barely even covered half of one! So I did some research online and found a tutorial on mixing rubbing alcohol with acrylic ink! So off to the store I went and it worked perfectly. I had to apply it a few times as they were white wigs originally. I trimmed them a bit and tightened the head band with bobby pins so they would fit their little heads.
And Voila! The final product!
My very cute Thing 1 & Thing 2!
PS I realize it's 7:30pm Halloween night but I've been dying to do this post for over a month!

Fall into October

October has been a busy month with all the Thanksgiving and Halloween festivities.

  • We started off the month by celebrating Thanksgiving with the Bevans' in Cardston and the Walton's in Okotoks. That weekend my sisters and I made some festive crafts. We made these Scarecrow sitters that go outside our front doors and then these Halloween ghosts.

I also had to get a picture of all the grandchildren. 20 grandbabies 12 (almost 13) and under!

Then we headed to Okotoks to Wendell's sisters house for dinner.
Wyatt loves playing with his older cousins and of course the dogs and cats that they have there!
We got a picture of most of the grandchildren minus the Redford boys!

  • We went to the Calgary Corn Maze for the first time. It was a little chilly but Wyatt has a blast playing on the slides and bouncy pillow.

  • That's it for now! I can't wait to do a Halloween post! The boys' costumes are soooo cute!

6 months old!

Mr. Jakey turned 6 months old this week. We are halfway to 1!

I don't have his weight and height yet. We go for his 6 month shots next week so they will measure him there. He is definitely getting bigger and longer. Last week I put away a lot of his baby clothes and got out the 6-12 month box.

He has 1 tooth!! At 5 1/2 months I could see the tooth through his gums and within 2 days it broke through on the bottom. He did fairly well with teething and I'm sure the other tooth will come through soon.

He LOVES food. At a little over 5 months I noticed he would watch us intently and open his mouth whenever we were all eating at the table. I waited until he was about 5 1/2 months to start him on cereal. He absolutely loves it. He also loves those puffs and baby mums.

He has the sweetest personality. He is constantly laughing and watching all the boys. He loves when they get down on the floor and play with him.

5 months old!

Not MY Jakey! He's not 5 months old..right! He was born only a couple of weeks ago..... sigh!! This summer flew by so fast and in result my newborn baby turned into a rolling & almost sitting big baby!
Jakey is 15 pounds 3 ounces and is 25 1/2 inches long.
He loves loves loves to jump in his jolly jumper. We have entered the phase of him jumping in our laps whenever we hold him. He is getting really good at rolling. The first several times he rolled I missed it. I would look over at him and there he would be on his tummy. I finally saw him do it the other day so I know for sure Wyatt's not just rolling him over like he used too.

He loves his soother! He is a soother monkey. It's great when he's fussy but not so great in the middle of the night when we have to go put it back in his mouth!! He also loves his "Ralphie." It's a plush toy attached to a blanket. It's a puppy dog so we thought the name "Ralphie" was fitting. He loves to hold it up to his face when he's trying to go to sleep.

Happy 5 month Birthday Jakey! It feels like you've been in our family forever!

Wyatt - 32 months

It's time for an update on the big little man! Mr. Wyatt is 32 months old which translates into just over 2 1/2 which means he'll be 3 in January! 3!!! My little boy will be 3!! If it's true what they say about 3 year olds being harder than 2 year olds then I'm in trouble.

He is officially potty trained! (Except he still wears pull ups during naps and at night. Most of the time he wakes up dry!!) While I was in Florida my hubby started the ball rolling again and was working with him all week. The Monday after I got back I decided we were doing this and getting it done! By Monday morning @ 10:00am he was going to the potty on his own without me having to ask him. He has the occasional accident if he is outside playing or doesn't get to the potty in time! The other day I was walking into the bathroom and he told me to remember to put my pee pee down!! lol

He loves the ALPHABET! Thanks to SUPER WHY (or SUPER READERS as we like to call it) he has learned all his upper and lowercase letters. He is now learning the sounds of all his letters thanks to a LEAP FROG DVD. We do a lot of driving so I have found that educational dvd's in the car work great for him!

He is starting to show some interest in Jakey. We were at Costco the other day and the boys were in the shopping cart. Wyatt poked his head into Jakey's car seat and started giving him kisses. It was probably the cutest thing I have ever seen.

I started my day home again in the beginning of September so he has some play mates again. I have two 3 year old boys and he loves to play with them. He is usually the ring leader and they copy all the crazy stuff he does! He is such a busy boy. I love the saying, "Mother's of little boys work from SON up till SON down!"

Oh Harry.....

Those people who know me really well know that I love Harry Potter! Ever since the first movie came out (I"ll admit I didn't read the books until I saw the movies) I've been obsessed.

Here is the run down of the Harry Potter merchandise I have acquired over the years:
  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets bed spread
  • Harry Potter back pack
  • Harry Potter mug that magically changed colors when you heated it
  • Harry and Hermione figurines
  • Harry Potter band aids that I put in my planner like stickers in Jr. High
  • Bertie Botts every flavored beans
  • An Owl stationary kit
  • and wands that Leah made for our Harry Potter sleepover!
So it was natural that I had the desire to go to the WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER at Universal Studios! But in reality I never thought I would go. For one Wendell would never go with me so I would have to wait until the boys were old enough and two it was the least of my priorities when you have a mortgage etc.

Well sometimes in life you need and break and do something for yourself right!! So Leah ( a fellow Harry Potter lover), Tracy ( who has never watched any of the movies until we decided to go), and I hopped on a plane and headed to Florida!

We were able to use my parents time share and rented a car! We spent the week sun tanning, shopping at every mall and outlet store we could find, and eating mostly at the Cheesecake Factory! The definite highlight of the trip was when we got to HARRY POTTER WORLD!!

We teared up when we arrived in Hogsmeade! I don't even now how to explain the feeling!

The Hogwarts Express
The Three Broomsticks Pub
Butterbeer! I would describe it as a Butterscotch/Caramel Slurpee
Olivanders Wand Shop! We waited in line for about an hour to watch a 10 min wand demonstration!!
Our wands!
It was a once in a lifetime trip! I love these girls so much and am so happy I got to check the WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER off of my TO DO list!

Now we are off to ELLEN!!

2 birthdays in 2 weeks!

My birthday and Wendell's birthday are about 2 weeks apart!
This year for my birthday I got to spend it in Florida with two of my favorite people!

But before we went I got to celebrate with Wendell and the boys!

Wendell got me a temple picture that I have been wanting forever! He even drove down to Cardston the morning he gave it to me so I could have it before I left to Florida!!

On my actual birthday we sun tanned by the pool, went shopping, and ate at Cheesecake Factory!!
The big 2-3!!
You would think the Cheesecake Factory would give you free cheesecake on your birthday right..... WRONG! You get icecream!! Oh well!!
I just got some to take home!!! Mmmm yummy Red Velvet Cheesecake!

It was a great birthday! Sometimes I actually forget how old I am. I still feel 17 especially with my blonde hair!! Right now I'm the age Wendell was when we started dating and got married. I could never imagine dating someone in High School! I still can't believe he endured those few months I was in High School!

Now for Wendell's 28th Birthday! He's been working at Lowes so he decided to buy himself a new BBQ! He got a great deal on it so HE couldn't resist!

I'm such a great baker I made him pumpkin cheesecake!!
Kidding.... this is courtesy of Walmart! He loves it so why mess with a good thing!

Happy Happy Birthday to Us!

4 Months Old!

It's amazing how fast another month has flown by. Mr Jakey is 4 months old tomorrow.

Daddy is taking him for his 4 months shots next week whileI am in Florida.

Jakey has almost mastered the roll. He arches his back and almost gets over. He can roll from his tummy to his back mostly because his big head weighs him down.

Jake is starting to sleep a lot better. He goes to bed at 7pm and we feed him before we go to bed. He will usually sleep until 4am and have a bottle. He goes back to sleep until about 7am.

Jakey is a sweetheart and he brings such a sweet spirit into our house. He was definitely sent to me because Heavenly Father knew I would need him in my life right now.
Mommy loves you Jakey!

I'm coming home, I'm coming home, Tell the world I'm coming home.....

After 2 months of living in Cardston I'm finally coming back home to Calgary..... in 2 weeks!!

There are definitely some things I've missed about Calgary and some I will miss about Cardston.

What I've missed in Calgary:
  • My HUBBY
  • My FRIENDS
  • My HOUSE (my BED in particular)
  • My WARD
  • My CHURCH CALLINGS ( I know I know I'm crazy)
  • and last but not least WALMART, COSTCO, & IKEA
What I'm going to miss about Cardston:
  • Being able to attend family events that are held during the week
  • Hearing Wyatt say, " Good morning gramma you have a good sleep?" every morning from the bottom of the stairs
  • Having a live in nanny and personal chef named GRANDMA :)
  • Spending time with my parents, siblings, neices & nephews
  • the Temple
  • A cold basement during the hot summer months
I will only be in Calgary for about a week and a half until I leave again for a week to FLORIDA with my besties!! I can't wait girls!

3 months old!

Jakey is 3 months old! He weighs 12 pounds 14 oz and is 25 inches long.

He is generally a happy baby and loves his little stuffed monkey. He still loves to swing and he likes it when I lay him on the floor and turn on the TV.

He is starting to eat on a regular schedule but at night he is still up at different times throughout the night. Luckily daddy is around now so I have some help.

He loves his hands. He is constantly sucking on them. I wish he would just suck his fingers instead of his soother!

He is really good in his car seat and will usually fall asleep right away. I'm a little worried about our long drive to Kelowna next week. Hopefully he will sleep most of the way.

He loves to give mommy smiles. He grins from ear to ear when we talk to him! It makes my heart melt every time.

Until next month....
